Vegan MoFo 2014: Sunseed Organics Grocery Haul

I know you guys love a good veggie haul as much as I do. Yesterday I went to my favourite place in Bristol to buy my organic veggies. For those of you that don’t know, Sunseed Organics is an organic wholesaler located in St Phillips (near Temple Meads) which is open to the public. The opening hours are 6:00 – 12:00 Mon-Fri and 8:00 – 1:00 Saturdays. It is so amazing to be able to buy quality organic produce at wholesale prices. The produce is always so fresh and vibrant I have a hard time sticking to my shopping list when I go in. I always want to buy everything! Sunseed also stocks the amazing fresh salads and veggies from the Shumei farm. If you have not tried this yet I highly recommend that you do.

For those of you that haven’t visited Sunseed before – you should! It is so enjoyable to select what you would like from the beautiful fruits and veggies. You just grab a box, fill it with whatever you fancy and take it over to be weighed up. The price list is up on the wall – you will be totally blown away by how cheap it is. I promise it is way, way cheaper than buying organic produce in the supermarkets and far superior quality. The staff are the friendliest people, they are all very knowledgeable about organics so if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask! If you’re a hugger (who isn’t?!) you can claim your free hug with every shop 😉

So I guess you want to see the goodies?! You all know I ♥ everything autumn, so you can only imagine how excited I was to see cute baby squashes. Eeeee, ohmigosh! I had to control myself as I am limited to the space in my backpack since I swapped four gas guzzling wheels for two sweat powered wheels a few months ago. I got this beautiful harlequin squash. These are so sweet and delicious I am so excited to cook it. I think I need to get out more… I also got excited to see GIANT parsnips. Guys, these were the smallest parsnips, I’m not even joking. You should have seen the size of some of these guys. I got kilos and kilos of potatoes. These are so cheap right now, varying from about 50-70p a kilo depending on the variety. Sweet potatoes because they are delicious. I am kind of obsessed with potatoes right now. I also got courgettes, onions, garlic, ginger, turmeric, lentils, butternut squash, apples and lime. DSC_0679

Guess how much all of this deliciousness set me back!? You won’t believe… Only £16.80. Wow. Sunseed also do a loyalty card. If you collect 6 stamps on your card, you get 20% off your next shop. I totally got my 6th stamp on Friday. Score. Then I was cleaning my room earlier and in an old purse I found… A sunseed loyalty card with 2 stamps on it! Winning! Well I super recommend you get your butt over to Sunseed for some deliciousness.

Where is your favourite place to do your grocery shopping? Do you believe it is important to eat organic?

Happy Saturday!

Olivia ♥
