I took myself on a wee trip to Girona, Spain for my birthday last week. It was literally the most beautiful city I have ever visited. The people were friendly, the weather was amazing and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend that you go and see it for yourself.
I had quite a foodie holiday but this post is solely dedicated to one meal. Let me tell you about my first ever trip to a raw vegan restaurant 😀 Woah buddy, it was goooood!
So before I took my trip I looked on Happy Cow and I was delighted and amazed to find a 100% organic, raw vegan restaurant in Girona. What are the chances?! I was so excited to visit Bionectar and it did not disappoint! It was worth the trip just for that one delectable meal. I swear I have dreampt about this meal – it was so good. Here is the photo album of my experience at Bionectar. I got there as soon as it opened for the lunch time service so that is why there is nobody else there but it did get very full I promise.
When I walked through the door I was greeted by the mellow sounds of Jack Johnson, In Between Dreams – actually my favourite, I knew it was going to be good. I was warmly welcomed in to the restaurant by the very friendly people who worked there (I am sorry I am terrible at remembering names). They entertained me whilst I was waiting for my meal which I could see being lovingly prepared. The atmosphere was very friendly, mellow and chilled, exactly my cup of tea. See for yourself…
Wow! The food was absolutely beautiful. The rainbow salad had a really yummy dressing and a raw beetroot falafel in the middle which was muy buena! The crackers too were raw and of the dehydrated variety. I have never had these before and they were so amazing. One had raw hummus and the other was topped with sundried tomato pesto and raw almond ‘cheese.’ I could have eaten those things forever they were delicioso! The pasta was my favourite – spiralized zucchini with the raw sundried tomato pesto. Soooo good.
I haven’t even gotten around to the best part yet! When I was asked if I would like dessert, my answer was ‘of course.’ I mean is that even a question you had to ask?!! I could see this luscious raw carrot cake winking at me from behind the counter. It would be rude not to.
The carrot cake was divine. The frosting was so silky and smooth, it was magical. The cake was a brilliant mix of spices, carrot and a delicious hint of coconut. Wow I was full after all of that.
I was super stoked with my first experience of a raw vegan restaurant, and a little spoiled too I think. My expectations are very high now! I give Bionectar a rating of 10/10! I would highly recommend a visit to these guys if you find yourself in their neck of the woods. The price was very good too – ,my meal was €12 and the dessert was €5. Pretty good!
Have any of you guys visited a raw vegan restaurant? What did you think?
I hope you are all good and happy my loves,
